Happy Labour Day! How is everyone enjoying the long weekend? I thought I'd start this week with a new segment on my blog called Weekend Thrift Store Finds. One of my favourite things to do on the weekends is visit local thrift stores or garage sales and see what treasures I can find.
Today I'm sharing some Olympic Medals from Ancient Greece bottle openers that I found at a garage sale. They really could pass for ancient medals, don't you think? But, clearly (and unfortunately) they are simply bottle openers.
The two smaller ones are the same. They both feature ruins on one side and the ancient Roman Colossus on the other. The larger one has an image of William Shakespeare's house in Stratford on Avon. I love the minty green "patina" on the smaller ones.
According to my eBay searches, these souvenirs date somewhere around the 1950s-1960s. They can be found online between $6 - $12 each.
Have you found any thrift store treasures lately? I'd love to hear about them!
