DIY Painted Wreath

Sunday, January 6, 2013

The holidays may be over but that doesn't mean your doors need to be wreath-less, does it?  A wreath is welcome on my door anytime of the year.  I started by picking out the paint.  I chose Martha Stewart's Multi-Surface High Gloss paint in "Beach Glass."  It's such a pretty turquoise.  It's important to choose a paint with a glossy finish.  It will make the wreath look like it's coated in a hard candy shell ;)

The wreath is a grapevine wreath that I bought at Michael's.  This craft is very easy.  Use a brush with long bristles and just cover the entire wreath with paint.  You pretty much just slap the paint on...poke it into all the nooks and crannies of the wreath.  Don't try painting it in the traditional back and forth way - you'll end up with splatters all over your workspace.  Let dry.  Finish with a pretty silky ribbon and -voila!  You have a bright wreath to hang on your door!
